About Ivana Husar
Ivana Husar, who records as Ivana Husar Mlinac, is a Croatian singer and songwriter, born on 11 June 1977 in Zagreb. She grew up in the Zagreb district of Dubrava, sang in her primary school choir and later in the choir Zvjezdice.
She started out as a backing singer: she sang with Gibonni, spent two years in the band Soul Fingers, and in 1994 backed Tony Cetinski at Eurovision with "Nek' ti bude ljubav sva". On Christmas Eve 1995 she founded the vocal group Divas with her sister Marija Husar, Maja Vučić and Martina Pongrac. Divas sang "Sexy cool" at Dora 1996 and won a Porin with it, won the Split Festival Grand Prix in 1999 with "Da ili ne", recorded "To nismo mi" with Oliver Dragojević and released five albums before splitting up in 2005.
Ivana then went on with her sister: their double album Familija, most of whose songs she wrote, was dedicated to their father, and in 2013 she released Sve za nju. She has also voiced characters in Croatian versions of animated films, as Rapunzel in Shrek the Third (2007) and Maria in Sammy 2 (2012). In 2019 she and Marija received the Order of the Croatian Trefoil.
Her later songs are mostly spiritual, such as "Gospodine hvala", "Krist na žalu" and "Moj Isus". At Easter 2020 the sisters sang in the empty, earthquake-damaged Zagreb Cathedral with the pianist Matija Dedić, and in December 2025 they marked thirty years on stage with a Christmas concert in the Vatroslav Lisinski hall, where the four Divas sang together again.
