Ina Shai

Ina Shai is a Slovenian singer of pop, R&B and soul, born Martina Šraj on 21 September 1992 in Ljubljana and raised in Radomlje, which is why she is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia. Since 2014 she has lived in London, where she makes her music. She sings mainly in English; her early songs, recorded under her own name, were in Slovenian.

As a girl she trained in dance, sang in choirs and took piano and singing lessons, and she went to the grammar school in Kamnik. In 2007 she began working with producer Simon Skalar and won a singing contest at the Global club with Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable". In 2009 her song "Jst hočm tebe met" won an online contest of RTV Slovenia, and in 2010 she sang "Dovolj ljubezni" at EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, and finished seventh. In 2011 she reached the semi-finals of Slovenija ima talent.

In 2014 she moved to London to study at the BIMM Institute, graduated with honours and stayed on as Ina Shai. Her 2016 song "Overload" made her artist of the week on BBC radio, and her first album, Overload, came out the same year with "Player" among its songs. At home she kept coming back to the festivals: "Iščem sonce" at Melodije morja in sonca 2015 placed seventh and won the Danilo Kocjančič award for the most promising performer, and she returned to EMA with "Colour Me" in 2017 and "V nebo" ("Glow") in 2018, which placed sixth.

She has also sung on tracks by Hans Kristjan, Nimino, Sweet Peak and GoGs, and her cover of "Starboy" with producer Vladishe has passed eight million plays on Spotify and YouTube. Later singles include "What Is" (2021), "Queen" (2022), released during Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee, and the R&B song "Touch" (2022), first performed on the main stage of London Pride in 2019. Her newest single, "Miss You", came out in July 2026. The playlist gathers the videos from her own channel.
