About Saša Lešnjek

Saša Lešnjek is a Slovenian pop singer, lyricist and voice actress, born on 9 August 1999 in Ljubljana and raised in Dol pri Ljubljani. She started with piano and violin at music school, graduated in jazz singing at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana in 2018, spent the 2018/19 year studying jazz in Graz and then continued at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. In 2017 she won a gold plaque in the jazz solo category of the national Temsig competition.

The wider Slovenian public met her as Sandy in the Slovenian Grease, Briljantina, which opened at Cankarjev dom on 22 June 2018 and toured Slovenia until December 2019; before that she had stepped into the lead role of the musical Vesna. Right after the premiere she released her first song, "Najino poletje", followed by "Zaljubljena v ta svet" and, in December, the duet "V drobnih stvareh" with Alex Volasko, who writes the music for most of her songs while she writes her own lyrics. She also sang on the producer Hyu's album Made You Make Me, on the single "What It Means".

"Nazaj v Piran", "Pelji me nazaj", "Klopca želja" and "Kako lepo je" came out in 2019 and 2020. In 2021 she sang "Kaj bi svet brez upanja" at Melodije morja in sonca, finished fourth and won the Danilo Kocjančič award for a promising performer or author. In 2022 she made her debut at Slovenska popevka with "Sama", and at the 2025 Festival of Slovenian Chanson she sang "Avtobus št. 6" and won the jury's award for a promising young author or performer.

She is a regular guest of the RTV Slovenija Big Band and Symphony Orchestra and sang at the Poletna noč concert six times between 2018 and 2024. Other artists keep asking her to join them: the duet "Glas srca" with Omar Naber (2022), "Tipi z jeepi" with Magnifico at Melodije morja in sonca 2023, a Christmas duet with Oto Pestner in 2023 and a guest spot at his concert in Križanke in 2024.

In 2024 she was invited to join the vocal group Pepel in kri, with whom she still sings. In 2025 she was a soloist with the Big Barcelona Blues Band at the jazz festival in San Javier, Spain, and in 2026 she sang at Elda Viler's farewell concert in Gallusova dvorana of Cankarjev dom. She has also dubbed cartoons, among them the voice of Disney's Snow White.
