About Elis Lovrić
Elis Lovrić is a Croatian singer-songwriter and actress, born in Pula and raised in Rabac on the east coast of Istria. She makes contemporary folk music, and most of her songs are written in labinjonska čakavica, the Chakavian dialect spoken around the town of Labin.
She graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and has acted in theatres in Croatia and Italy. On film she appeared in Ovdje nema nesretnih turista and in Jerusalemski sindrom (2004). She speaks five languages, Croatian, English, Italian, German and Portuguese, which has taken her into several international projects. Her first album, Simple Girl, came out in 1995, followed by My Land.
Her third studio album, Merika, was released by Akcent Studio on 13 May 2017: a contemporary folk record of songs and ballads in the Istrian scale. A Portuguese-language version, O canto da Istria, followed in September 2018, after which she toured Brazil. Her song "Sretno ti bilo" came out in June 2018 and was performed at the 58th Split Festival.
She has been a regular at Dora, the Croatian Eurovision selection. In 2019 she finished seventh with "All I Really Want", in 2020 she sang "Jušto" in the Labin dialect, and she returned in 2022. She also sang "Vidim da si tu" at the 67th Zagreb Festival.
Her album Kanat od mora came out in 2021. Its title song has travelled far: she has sung it at the European Parliament in Brussels, and it also exists in Japanese as "Umi no uta", recorded with the Japanese singer Utako Toyama, as well as in Italian, German and Polish versions. The playlist here is the album Kanat od mora, with "Vel", "Kolor", "Škanjet", "Od kad te poznon" and "Sretno ti bilo".
