About Čedahuči

Čedahuči is a Slovenian band playing where indie folk, singer-songwriter music and acoustic rock meet, known for poetic lyrics and an intimate, mostly acoustic sound. Blaž Učakar, the main songwriter, and Matjaž Jakin started the project in the second half of 2012 and played their first months without a name. The name means nothing: it comes from a song about the Chattahoochee River, whose acoustic cover by Bahamas they loved rehearsing.

The band was officially formed in January 2013 and released its debut, Čedahuči EP, in April, recorded in the Ljubljana studio of Gal Gjurin, who was their publisher and mentor at the start. The first full album, Severnica - zgodbe o odhajanju, followed in 2013 according to the band's biography, and Svetilnik - pesmi o svetlobi in 2018, a concept album recorded in 432 Hz tuning in their own studio, Čedaplac, and presented with a double concert at SiTi Teater. In 2021 they released the live album Izštekani.

They call themselves folk rockers and name Arcade Fire as an inspiration, and their songs use acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, keyboards, violin, mandolin, clarinet and percussion. By 2018 they had played about 150 concerts. At the end of 2023 they marked ten years on the road with a concert at Kino Šiška in Ljubljana.

The line-up has changed several times; in 2025 it was Blaž Učakar (voice, guitars, keyboards), Romana Prosenc (voice, percussion), Matej Naglič (electric guitar, banjo), Aljaž Hrastar (bass) and Anže Žurbi (drums). Their recordings include "Geronimo", "Medved (Ne grem nazaj)" and "Listje pada z mano na tla" with Gal Gjurin, and they have played "Lahko sem srce in lahko sem kvadrat" live with Fed Horses.
