About Boštjan Pertinač
Boštjan Pertinač is a Slovenian singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Sežana, often called a Karst troubadour. He sings in Slovenian, mostly in the dialect of the Karst, and he is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia because he is a Slovenian artist from the Karst. After ten years in Nova Gorica he moved back to the Karst during the pandemic, and he lives and works there today.
Before going solo he played in several bands. His turn to the dialect came after the musician Gaber Radojevič heard his song "Daj povej mi" and told him simply to be himself; the dialect songs brought him far more attention on radio. Other early songs include "Pihi burja" and "Suhi zid".
His breakthrough was the 40th Melodije morja in sonca in the summer of 2021, where he sang "Plima", a song in the Karst dialect about mysterious blue eyes. In the autumn of the same year he released the rock single "Kamen", produced with Jan Baruca, its video filmed in a quarry at Lipica with Natalija Krulec. Later came "Sz Sežane doma", a song about Karst specialities from teran wine to jota, which also gave its name to an album.
Pertinač runs his own music school, Pertinach, leads workshops for older people that connect them with Karst life, and plays summer concerts at Lipica and around the region, alone or with his band. His songs on YouTube include "Jutro na Krasu", "Osmica", "Nedeljsko kosilo", "Več kot beseda" and "Sito let" with the singer Lara Baruca. The playlist gathers them from his Topic channel.
