About Anica Russo
Anica Russo is a German pop singer-songwriter, born in Oldenburg on 4 February 2000. Her mother is Italian and her father is Croatian, and her Croatian father is why she is on this site. The youngest of three children, she grew up in a small village near Oldenburg and finished school there in 2018. In October of that year she began studying communication at the Berlin University of the Arts.
She started making music as a schoolgirl and from 2011 was a member of the Stage Academie in Oldenburg. In 2015 she sang on "Join Me" by Jones & Brock, released by Warner Music. A year later the producers Bela Brauckmann and Gunter Papperitz found her through YouTube, and they made her first songs together. In August 2018 she released a cover of Alan Walker's "Darkside" at his request.
At eighteen she signed with Universal Music. The singles "Progress" and "Get this done (5-4-3-2-1)" came out in 2018, followed in 2019 by the EP Felicity and "Rebel". She has toured as a support act for Ariana Grande, Alan Walker and Zoe Wees. In 2019 she turned down an offer from the German broadcaster NDR to sing in Sisters, the act it sent to Eurovision that year.
Since 2020 she has worked independently, and during the pandemic her sound turned to darker pop. Her first album, Woke Up Dreaming, came out in 2021, and the singles "Sunday Services", "Set You on Fire" and "Mirror on the Wall" followed in 2022. In 2023 she sang "Once Upon a Dream" in Unser Lied für Liverpool, Germany's Eurovision selection, and finished sixth. "Trust Issues" came out the same year, then "Coming Home (California)" and "21st Century Girl" in 2024. She is also an ambassador for JugendNotmail.
The playlist gathers her songs, from "Once Upon a Dream" to the newer "Rose Colored Glasses" and "Billboard Baby".
