Alen Nižetić

Alen Nižetić is a Croatian pop singer and songwriter from Split, born there on 5 January 1972. His songs have a strong Dalmatian flavour, and for three decades he has been a regular at the festivals and summer stages of the coast.

He started out in 1994 as the singer of the Split band Tutti Frutti, following Marsell Benzon, and stayed until 1996. In those years the band released the album Ruže i vino, and in 1996 he made his debut at the Split festival with "Nož u srcu". The same year the band recorded "Dalmacijo", sung by Nižetić and written by him with Nenad Ninčević and Davor Pastuović. Little was expected of it, yet it became the anthem of Hajduk Split and its supporters, and the club gave it its first official video in 2024.

His solo career began in 1997 with third place at Dora, the Croatian Eurovision selection, with "Ti", and a win at the Split festival the same summer. His first album, Happy end (1998), went silver with about 18,000 copies sold. Noćas se rastaju prijatelji (1999), 101 noć (2000), whose title song he sang with Maja Blagdan, Laži mi (2002) and Trebaju mi noći lude (2004) followed. At Dora 2000 he sang "Hrabro srce", written by Nenad Ninčević.

Later he often worked with Dalmatian vocal groups: at the Split festival he sang "Pismo moja ljubljena" with Kvartet Friži in 2010, "Bez tebe život mi ne vridi" with Klapa Friži in 2011 and "Moja Dalmacijo" in 2012, and "Iza njenih škura" in 2013. Pismo moja ljubljena (2011) and Tvoje more (2017) are his later albums. In 2014 he won the Split festival again with "Devet slova jedne riči", a tribute to Vinko Coce sung with Marko Škugor, Duje Coce, Klapa Čiovo and Robert Kurbaša.

Alen Nižetić also took part in the HRT show Zvijezde pjevaju and in the 2020 tribute album Split pjeva Mišu. He still tours the coast and the Croatian communities abroad, with songs such as "Noćas se rastaju prijatelji", "Vina mi dajte" and "Boli me uspomena".
