Toxine

Toxine is a Slovenian rock band from the Primorska region, the Slovenian coast and its hinterland, formed in 2007, and that is why it is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia. Its music began as funk and rock and later took in progressive rock, stoner rock, touches of metal, pop and ambient sound. The band sings mostly in English, with lyrics that comment on society and the mind, and lately also in Slovenian.

Singer Tomi Toth, drummer Gregor Brajkovič, bassist Marko Obranovič and guitarist Tjaš Kozlovič got together over the New Year of 2006/07 to play other people's songs for fun, but they soon started writing their own. Samo Turk replaced Kozlovič on guitar in May 2007, and Jaša Hedžet replaced Obranovič on bass in August 2008. The first song, "Ever Wordless?", was written for the local compilation Kompilacija Obala 2, released in 2009.

Their first full concert was at the Jeff festival in Koper in August 2009. In 2010 they made the demo Play Me If You Can and took part in Radio Študent's RockIzziv 2010 compilation with "OverGround". The debut album, Ever Wordless, produced by Lukas Stepančič and Mladen Krkač, came out in May 2013 on Subkulturni azil and Akord Records, and in December 2013 "Janez Novak" was included on Rokerji pojejo pesnike 9.

The second album, Now O' Clock, followed in October 2015, with the video "Budget Symphonia"; "Heyday" got an official video in 2018. Today the band is Toth, Turk and saxophonist and keyboard player Žiga Fabbro.

In July 2024 Toxine played the 43rd Melodije morja in sonca festival in Portorož with "Slovenska pesem", a song by Turk and Toth sung together with Marko Vuksanović of Avtomobili. The jury of Miša Molk, Rok Lunaček and Boris Devetak gave it their most points, though the grand prize went to Žan Videc. The playlist gathers the band's official videos and live clips.
