About Seka Aleksić

Seka Aleksić, born Svetlana Aleksić on 23 April 1981 in Zvornik, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a Bosnian-Serbian singer of mainly pop-folk music. As a schoolgirl she sang as a soloist with her school choir, and her idol was Vesna Zmijanac. Two months after she finished fourth grade, the war forced the family to flee to Banja Koviljača, and a year later they settled in the village of Lipolist near Šabac.

At 14 she began singing in kafanas to help her family, and in 1996 she left agricultural school to devote herself to singing, though at her mother's urging she later qualified as a hairdresser. She sang with the band Strogo poverljivo, lived in Bijeljina, and at 19 went to Switzerland for two years, where she sang in clubs and recorded the demo for her first album.

She broke through in 2002, when "Idealno tvoja" won the audience's first prize at the Moravski biseri festival in Ćuprija, and the album of the same name came out on Grand Production. Balkan (2003), with "Crno i zlatno", and Dođi i uzmi me (2005), with "Sviđa mi se tvoja devojka" and "Svi tvoji milioni", followed. In 2006 she played Smokvica in the film Mi nismo anđeli 3. Kraljica (2007), with "Aspirin" and "Poslednji let", was that year's best-selling album by a Serbian artist. After Slučajni partneri (2009) she held her first solo concert at the Belgrade Arena on 24 October 2010, in front of about 15,000 people, and starred in her own reality show, Moja desna ruka; the single "Soba 22" became one of her biggest hits.

After Lom (2012) she left Grand Production after 13 years and released Lek za spavanje (2015) on City Records, with "Crveni ruž". Koma (2017) brought "Evo" and "Ti i ja smo par", and she returned to the Arena on 14 April 2018. Bioskop came out in 2022 and Femme fatale in 2026; from 2021 to 2023 she hosted the cooking contest Majke i snajke, and in 2023 she was named National Music Artist of Serbia.

Seka Aleksić married the former kickboxer Veljko Piljikić in September 2010. They have two sons and live in Stara Pazova.
