Petra Marklund

Petra Marklund is a Swedish singer, songwriter and television presenter who first became known under the stage name September. She was born on 12 September 1984 in Stockholm to a Slovenian mother, who had a musical background and once entered a Slovenian song contest, and a Swedish father, a professor of space physics. Her Slovenian mother is why she is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia. She sings in English and, since 2012, in Swedish, not in Slovenian. English Wikipedia says she has lived in London since 2009, while her career and new releases are in Sweden.

Her family called her the "September child", which gave her the stage name. Discovered by producer Hans Edler, she made a first album, Teen Queen, in 1999. As September she broke through in 2003 with "La La La (Never Give It Up)", then had a hit with "Satellites" from the Grammis-winning album In Orbit (2005). "Cry for You" became her biggest international song: number 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart, number 5 in the UK, and over a million copies sold.

In Sweden her biggest hit was "Mikrofonkåt", her version of a song by the rapper Petter, which she sang on Så mycket bättre in 2010. It held number one for 11 weeks, and the album Love CPR (2011) also went to number one. "Can't Get Over" and "Until I Die" were further hits, and in 2007 she represented Sweden at the Sopot festival in Poland.

In 2012 she began recording in Swedish under her own name. The album Inferno and its single "Händerna mot himlen" were a big success, followed by Ensam inte stark (2015) with "Som du bäddar" and Frimärken (2021). She hosted the sing-along show Allsång på Skansen in 2014 and 2015, and in 2023 she returned to English with "Ocean of Love", the song of Stockholm Pride.

Her newest songs, "Mitt hjärta en rebell" and "LYS", are from a coming Swedish album. The playlist gathers her music videos from her official channel, from "Händerna mot himlen" to "LYS".
