Meritas

Meritas is a Croatian pop vocal duo formed in Zagreb in 1996 by two singer-songwriters, Anita Valo and Meri Jaman. The name is made of syllables of their first names. Both grew up in Munich, and they started the duo when they came to Zagreb in 1996.

Their first album, Skači, pleši, viči!, came out on Dallas Records in 1997 and brought them Crni mačak nominations for best female vocal and hope of the year. Igra followed in 2000, then on Menart Na prvi pogled (2005), Meritas Unplugged (2007), the live EP Live u Tvornici (2008), Gle! (2014), Live u Tvrđi (2015), Meritas20 (2017), Meritas20 live (2018) and Pričaj mi (2022). In 2025 Dallas Records reissued Igra on vinyl.

Their best-known song is "Odjednom ti", sung with Massimo Savić at Dora in 2004, a song on which Jelena Radan worked as one of the authors; it won the 2005 Porin for best vocal collaboration. "Još jednom" opened Igor Mirković's film Noćni brodovi in 2012 and was nominated for a Porin the next year, Gle! was nominated for best pop album, and the twentieth-anniversary concert album Meritas20 live for best concert album in 2019. In 2016 they won a second Porin, for the children's album Mjesto za mene. In 2021 they recorded "Večer" with Boris Štok.

Alongside their own records the two write music for children's theatre, mostly with the director Morana Dolenc, from Wanda Lavanda (2017) for the Rijeka puppet theatre, whose music won an award at the international puppetry festival in Podgorica in 2019, to Tonka bontonka, Maša i klaun and Lila; Anita Valo also arranges and produces. In 2025 they wrote songs about colours for HRT's children's programme Juhuhu.

The playlist comes from their own channel, from "Budim se", "Igra" and "Slučajno" to newer singles such as "Ovog ljeta" and "Mislim o tebi".
