About Jelena Radan
Jelena Radan is a Croatian singer, born on 23 August 1974 in Zagreb, whose music draws on Portuguese fado, with its sad melodies and words, as well as on pop.
She first appeared on record as a backing singer on an album by the group Senzar in 1998, and then behind Goran Karan at Dora 2000 on "Ostani (Kad zaspu anđeli)". Karan won, and she sang in his backing group at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 in Stockholm.
She came to Dora on her own in 2002 with "Povedi me". Her first albums were Jelena (2002), Nije kraj (2003) and Novi dan (2006), and her singles of those years included "Leti do snova" and "Nije kraj". She also worked closely, as author and collaborator, with Goran Bošković on "Odjednom ti", which Meritas and Massimo Savić sang at Dora 2004 and which became a big hit. In 2008 she and Meritas made the tribute programme When Tomorrow Comes, mostly songs by women writers who had shaped them, and took it on a club tour of the United States, to Detroit and New York. In 2009 she returned to Dora with "Voljet ću te sutra", which did not reach the final.
Her fado side came to the front on Moja potraga za Fadom (2012) and Voyage (2013), with guests such as Cinkuši and Aljoša Šerić. She has also sung in Croatian dubs of The Prince of Egypt and Brother Bear, and she has won Porin awards for best children's album and for best art design.
After a quieter period she guested on "Pođi na put" by Fluentes in 2015, and in 2025 she was back at Dora with the French-language song "Salut!" and at Melodije Jadrana with "Malena", written by Meritas. Her channel also holds songs recorded with the Zagreb Philharmonic and the 2026 single "Junak".
