About Marta Zore

Marta Zore is a Slovenian pop singer, composer and saxophonist, born on 21 August 1964 in Kranj. She is best remembered for the ballad "Še si tu", which won the Melodije morja in sonca festival in 1995.

She trained as a classical singer: after the secondary music school in Ljubljana she continued her studies with the teacher Olga Gracelj, holds a diploma in solo singing and piano, and worked as a soloist at the Ljubljana Opera. Her first festival success came at Melodije morja in sonca in 1988, where the song "Ti" won her the expert jury's award for the most promising performer. In 1989 she took part in the Yugoslav selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with "Kadar sem sama", as one of the trio Caffe, Mojca in Marta.

In 1995 she won Melodije morja in sonca with "Še si tu", a song she composed herself to lyrics by Miša Čermak, and her debut album of the same name followed that year. In 1996 she sang "Pojdi z njo" in EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, and finished third with 74 points. The albums Povej mi, zakaj (1998) and Nekje, kjer se je ustavil čas (2000) came next, and her songs from those years include "Ljubezen", "Le s teboj", "Ni mi žal", "Čuj moj glas" and the duet "Vse, kar sva bila" with Vili Resnik.

Around the turn of the millennium she quietly stepped away from festivals and the headlines. She went on recording all the same, twelve CDs in all, eight of them for children with Gojmir Lešnjak - Gojc, and she moved to Berlin for a time, where she worked as a producer, composer, actress and singer on four German-language musical projects. She also runs her own singing school.

In 2010 she announced her return to the Slovenian scene with a pop-rock album of ballads and lively songs, on which she also plays the saxophone; her album Svoja came out that year. In 2014 she sat on the expert jury of Slovenska popevka.
