About Ksenija Erker

Ksenija Erker is a Croatian pop singer and music teacher, born on 23 April 1954 in Zagreb. She began singing at seven in the children's choir of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, sang backing vocals from fourteen, and later graduated from the Zagreb Music Academy.

Her professional career began in 1973 with her first single, "Povedi me večeras". In early 1974 she recorded Arsen Dedić's "Proljeće je otpočelo s kišom", which soon became a big hit across Yugoslavia, and she toured Croatia and sang in Belgrade, Skopje, Sarajevo and the Soviet Union. At the end of that year she won the award for best newcomer and interpretation at the Zagreb festival with "Doći će dan" by Zrinko Tutić.

Festivals marked the following years: "Nikad više" in Opatija and "To nije kraj" in Split in 1975, "Uvijek ima jedna lađa" in Split and "Ti me možda voliš" in Zagreb in 1976, "Ti si moja inspiracija" in Zagreb in 1980, "Htjela bih ti reći" in 1981 and "Opet ljubav" in 1982. In 1986 she sang "Rastopljeno zlato ljubavi" in Zagreb as a duet with Zlatko Pejaković, and in 1989 she won the Melodije morja in sonca festival in Portorož with the Italian song "Alla fine della strada". Most of her songs were written by her former husband, the singer-songwriter Hrvoje Hegedušić.

She released eight albums, from Četiri asa (1975) through Kad žena voli, Pjevat ću vam noćas and Ksenija Erker (1985) to Ciao Italia (1991), with Italian songs, and some twenty singles. In the mid-1980s she put family life before her career, but audiences still remember "Proljeće bez tebe", "Sad mi kaži", "Opraštam ti sve" and "Ti si moja inspiracija". In 2002 her album Božić u obitelji won the Porin for best album of sacred music, and in 2008 Croatia Records released a double CD in its Zlatna kolekcija series. She was also on the jury of the HRT show Zvijezde pjevaju.
