About Iris

Iris, full name Iris Ošlaj, is a Slovenian pop singer, born on 22 September 1986, who sings mainly in Slovenian. The Slovenian Wikipedia describes her as a Slovenian singer of popular music, which is why she is on Muzika-Balkan; it does not say where she was born or where she lives today. She holds a master's degree in business studies.

She played the piano for ten years at music school, sang for four years in a girl trio called Hypnotic and studied solo singing for four years with Nuška Drašček. From the age of sixteen she worked as a backing singer, and at EMA 2007 she sang backing vocals for Rok Kosmač and Jernej Dermota.

In 2007 she signed with Lendero&Co and made her debut at EMA 2008, the Slovenian selection for Eurovision, with "Peti element", written by Andrej Babić, Saša Lendero and Miha Hercog. The same year she released "Zdaj znam reči ne" and "V ljubezni ni pravil", both with videos, then the summer song "Do neba", to which Manca Špik contributed, and "Kriva".

Her first album, Peti element, came out on Zlati zvoki with ten songs and an English bonus track, "Kiss Me"; most of it was written by Miha Hercog, Saša Lendero and Iris herself, while "Božič za dva" and "V ljubezni ni pravil" came from Damjan Pančur. The single "A čutiš to" (2011) entered several Slovenian charts, and its English version, "Can You Feel It", was played on Italian television. "Na izi" followed in March 2012, she took part in the Song of the Summer selection on the show Na zdravje, and "V tebi je" went to radio that June.

Her channel shows her still active, with "Objamem vse", "Čez vse galaksije", an acoustic set from 2026 and covers of Tajči's "Dvije zvjezdice" and Vesna Pisarović's "Da znaš".
