Imset

Imset is a Slovenian rock band from Domžale, north of Ljubljana, and the band is still based there. It began in 2010 with a New Year's Eve gig in Domžale, playing only covers at first. In 2011 the young band played the Newcomer festival in Austria, Najstfest in Žiri and Glas mladih in Črnomelj, and won the award for the most promising young band at the music festival of Slovenian schools at the Pionirski dom in Ljubljana.

The early line-up of singer and guitarist Jaka Peterka, bassist Jaka Ažman and Dejan Macura also had guitarist Jaka Kosec and drummer Jernej Žunič, who both left by 2012. Peterka's cousin Blaž Horvat took over the drums in the winter of 2012, and guitarist Tilen Vake and cellist Monika Hočevar joined for a while. In November 2012 Imset won Glas mladih with their own songs "Daleč stran" and "Moj svet", which earned them a place at Schengenfest 2013. They also recorded "Daleč stran" with the rapper Zlatko.

In January 2014 they played Przystanek Woodstock in Poland. The first video, for "Daleč stran", followed in January 2015, and when Vake left that autumn the band became a four-piece. "Feniks" came out in October 2015, and the band played with the string orchestra of KD Stična as Rockester.

After "Jadrava" in April 2018, Imset released their first album, Persona, on Nika Records in May 2018. It was recorded in Novo mesto with producer Matej Pečaver and mastered by Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound in New York. One song, "Sanjam", is a duet with Alya, and "Kralj" and "Na glas" were singles. In 2020 "Upornika z razlogom" showed a new sound with more electronics, which they call modern rock, and on 22 February 2020 they sang "Femme fatale" at EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection. In 2021 "Lost Inside" and "All the Same" reached the final of the International Songwriting Competition.

Imset have opened for Dubioza Kolektiv, Bijelo Dugme at its 40th-anniversary concert in Koper, Prljavo Kazalište, Parni Valjak and Dire Straits Experience, and have played many times with Omar Naber. Today the band is Peterka, Ažman, Horvat and guitarist Žiga Janežič. The playlist gathers their videos, from "Daleč stran" to "Bel vohun" and "Prepad".
