Alya, born Alja Omladič on 28 May 1983 in Mozirje, is a Slovenian pop singer. As a child she played the piano and wrote her own songs, and since the early 2000s she has been one of the best-known voices of Slovenian pop.
Her early song "Mr. Poželenja" came second at the Radio HIT festival in 2002, and "Igra" reached the radio charts the same year. Her debut album, Alya (2004), went gold and platinum, and the videos for "Alya" and "Zvezda večera" reached second and fourth place on the MTV World Chart Express. Slovenian journalists named her singer of the year in 2004. She also became a regular at EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, finishing third in 2004 with "Fluid" and fifth in 2005 with "Exxtra".
"A veš", written by Jan Plestenjak, was named song of the year 2008, and with Rudi Bučar she sang Plestenjak's "Zadnji dan" at EMA 2009. Her second album, Non Stop, came out in 2009, and its video for "Brazil" was filmed on the Slovenian coast. "Moja pesem" was a hit of 2012, and "Zlaži se mi" was the most played Slovenian song of 2013. In 2014 she turned down "Lovin' Me", which became the first single of Maraaya, released her third album, Car, and recorded "Čas je (Dan zmage)" with Trkaj.
In 2015 she sang at EMA with Neno Belan and joined 23 singers on "Live It", the anthem of the handball World Championship in Qatar, which went gold. In 2016 she won Melodije morja in sonca with "Srce za srce (Ti)", which also went to number one on SloTop50. "Halo" followed in 2017 and reached third place, and the video for "Dobro jutro življenje" (2018) was filmed in Piran in a single shot.
Her fourth album, Iz dnevne sobe, came out in 2019, together with "Sedam dana na moru", nominated for a MAC award, and "Spet zaljubljena", also sung in Croatian as "Ili s tobom ili sama". She later recorded "Spet zaljubljena" with Kvatropirci and "Dobro jutro, dober dan" with Vili Resnik.
