About Grešni kozli

Grešni kozli ("The Scapegoats") is a pop, folk and rock band of the Slovenians of the Trieste area in Italy. It was founded in 2014 by Matej Gruden, known as Keko, and Iztok Cergol, and it is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia because it is a band of the Slovenian minority there: most of its songs are in the local Slovenian dialect of the Karst. The band describes itself as coming from the Karst on the Italian-Slovenian border and keeping the Slovenian song alive in Trieste.

Keko sings, plays guitar and writes most of the lyrics; Cergol plays guitar, sings and composes. The Italians Marco Mattietti on drums and percussion and Fabio Bandera on double bass play with them. Keko, a poet and musician, was born in Gorizia in 1974 and lives in Nabrežina (Aurisina) near Trieste; he had co-founded the band Kraški ovčarji in 1994, and in 2013 he and Cergol staged their own duo show, (u)TRI(n)KI.

The band released the single "Kaj vam bi razlagal" in 2018 and the album Fancli z dušu in 2019, which it published itself, followed by the single "Narobe svet" in 2020. Its songs are about everyday life, love and the people of the Karst, and its natural home, as it says itself, is the table at an osmica, the Karst farm tavern. In 2021 it released "Poleti, Sokol!" with Vlado Kreslin.

The playlist gathers the band's videos, among them "Starina", "Lahi u vasi" and "Dns rjs smi ne da".
