About Eva Hren

Eva Hren is a Slovenian pop singer and guitarist, born on 12 October 1974. She is on Muzika-Balkan because she is a Slovenian artist who has made her whole career on the Slovenian scene, from the Slovenska popevka festival to Slovenian folk songs in new arrangements. She sings mainly in Slovenian, and some of her songs also have English versions. The sources do not say where she was born or where she lives today.

She trained as a guitarist and graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in the class of Professor Andrej Grafenauer. Her singing career in pop music began in the trio Katrinas. After she left it, she recorded her first solo album, Vzhod zahod, produced and arranged by Marko Mozetič, and with its title song she took part in Slovenska popevka 2004.

In 2008 she released Etno with the Big Band RTV Slovenija, jazz arrangements of well-known Slovenian folk songs. In the same year she co-founded the band Sladcore, which also started out with Slovenian folk songs, and with them she played the 30th Shetland Folk Festival. Eva Hren & Sladcore released the albums SLO (2009) and EtnoSoul (2012).

At Slovenska popevka 2016 her song "Počasi" won the jury's award for the best lyrics. In 2019 she won the festival with "Šesti čut", written by Žiga Pirnat, chosen by the telephone vote as the song of the year; at the same festival the jury's main prize went to Ana Soklič. In 2023 she was second with "Kako zveni pomlad", again by Pirnat, which won the jury's grand prize for the best song. She also took part in the Pop TV show Znan obraz ima svoj glas.

The playlist is the Eva Hren & Sladcore channel: "Kako zveni pomlad" and "Šesti čut" in several versions, and folk songs such as "Lipa zelenela je" and "Po jezeru".
