About Elemental

Elemental are a hip-hop band from Zagreb, founded in 1998 by Luka Tralić "Shot", Mirela Priselac "Remi" and Gordan Radočaj "Ink". All three came from the city's young hip-hop scene of the 1990s: Shot was making beats for local MCs at sixteen, Ink belonged to a graffiti crew and Remi painted with the only all-female graffiti crew in Zagreb at the time. Before Elemental they recorded as part of the Basemental Project, named after the basement studio where they worked, and in 1998 Remi rapped and sang on "Vrijeme istine" with Nered.

Elemental played their first show under that name in 1998 at the club Mungos in Kašina. Their debut album, Moj, njegov i njen svijet, came out on Kondorcomm in June 2000 and stood out for its soft, organic beats and serious lyrics. Inspired by groups such as The Roots, Remi and Shot wanted to play live with a full band, which was unusual on the Croatian scene, and in 2001 they signed with Menart, who released Tempo velegrada / Demiurg in 2002.

After the second album Ink left, and the musicians moved from backing the rappers to writing with them. Male stvari (2004) was the first Croatian hip-hop album played entirely on instruments, and it took the band on tour across Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the Exit festival in Serbia in 2006 and to Skopje in 2007. Pod pritiskom (2008), announced by their first rock single "Nema ga", made them a firm mainstream act, and Vertigo followed in 2010. On 18 June 2011 they played before 20,000 people as the opening act for Amy Winehouse, at what turned out to be her last concert.

U redu je came out in 2013. In 2016 the band set up its own label, 383records, and released the double album Tijelo; its first single, "Goli i bosi", was their most popular hit since "Romantika" and won the Porin for song of the year. They celebrated their eighteenth birthday with 4,500 fans at Zagreb's Dom sportova, and their twentieth with the biography Sve, samo ne romantika, the compilation XOXO and two nights at Tvornica kulture. In 2019 they played to 40,000 people at the Belgrade Beer Fest, the biggest audience of their career.

The album Ilica was released on Bandcamp in June 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, and in 2021 the band streamed the augmented-reality Remote Festival. Since 2011 Remi and Shot have played with guitarist Erol Zejnilović, keyboard player Davor Zanoški, drummer Ivan Vodopijec, bassist Konrad Lovrenčić and singer Vida Manestar, and their channel announces a new album, Dobra djeca, in 2026.
