About Domen Kumer
Domen Kumer is a Slovenian pop and narodnozabavna singer, born on 3 July 1983 in Maribor. He learned the bass guitar when he was young, began taking singing lessons with Dada Kladnik in 2002 and that year recorded his first song, "Bom nekaj naredil".
He made his festival debut in 2003 at EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, with "Tvoje ime", which finished sixth. In the second half of that year Nika Records released his first album, Šok za srce, written and produced with Matjaž Vlašič. In 2004 he was fourth at Melodije morja in sonca in Portorož with "Polna luna".
His breakthrough came in 2005, when he won Melodije morja in sonca with "Do Portoroža". The song became a hit and was nominated for hit of the year at the Slovenian Radio Festival. He won the festival again in 2006 with "Banana", and the same year finished fourth at EMA with "Noro se ujameva", a duet with Rebeka Dremelj. In 2008 he won the TV Paprika song of the summer with "Kamasutra", sung with Petra Pečovnik.
That same year he moved from pop to narodnozabavna music. At the 2009 festival of dialect songs, his "Marička Štajerka" won the audience award for best song, and in 2010 he took part in Slovenska polka in valček. With Dejan Vunjak he sang "Ona sanja Pariz" for the 2011-2012 winter song of the TV programme Na zdravje. He has also written songs for others, among them Petra Pečovnik, Pijamas, Mirna Reynolds, Maja Oderlap and Špela Grošelj, and ran his own studio, Dee Kay Production.
In 2014 he moved to Austria and worked in construction and real estate. He returned to music in 2017 with "K vragu pamet", and in 2018 co-hosted the reality show Bar on Planet TV with Jasna Kuljaj.
