Davor Borno

Davor Borno is a Croatian pop singer and songwriter whose Mediterranean pop has made him one of the best-selling Croatian performers in Slovenia, while he keeps singing in his own Croatian.

In 1988 he was the singer of Noćna straža, the band of Boris Novković, and in 1990 he sang on the last album of the pop-rock group ITD Band, S ove strane ljubavi. He went solo in 1992. At Dora 1993, the Croatian Eurovision selection, he sang "Ispod zvjezdica", and the same year he won the award for best newcomer at the Split festival with "Vjeruj da ljubav ne umire", still the prize he values most. More festival songs followed at Zagrebfest ("Prolazi duga godina", "Samo ti"), Osfest ("Jesam li za tebe bio ja") and Split 1999 ("Da imam dva života ja"), and in 1996 Croatia Records released his album Ljubav ili grijeh. He also played sixty concerts on a tour of Ukraine.

From 2000 his career grew above all in Slovenia. The albums Što imam od života, Tko sam ja and Vagabundov sin and the best-of Pozdrav iz Dalmacije sold in diamond and platinum numbers. In 2001 he recorded a duet in Slovenian with Helena Blagne, in 2003 he wrote "Ti nisi vreden mojih solz" for her, and for five years he was a special guest on her tours.

His 2008 album Mediterraneo, coloured by Dalmatian, Italian and Greek sounds and produced by Bojan Šeruga, went to the top of the Slovenian album chart; in Croatia he presented it at the Croatian Radio Festival with "Ljudi". Slovenian viewers voted him the best performer of 2008, and "Moj je život samo bol" won the audience award at the MEF festival in 2009. The double album The Diamond Collection 1990–2010, with duets with Slovenian stars, and the concert DVD Pozdrav iz Dalmacije followed in 2010.

In 2018 he signed with Croatia Records and released "Dukati", and new singles have followed every year since: "Živote moj", "Nek' teče vino", "Bolji čovjek", "Najbolja" and "Samo ovaj put", the first song of a new album.
