About Dandelion Children
Dandelion Children is a Slovenian rock trio from Ljubljana, which is why it is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia. The band sings in English. Its roots go back to 2005, when the brother and sister Jure and Katja Kremenšek started making music together; they first played in public as a duo and became a trio about a year later, and the Slovenian Wikipedia counts the band from 2007.
Jure Kremenšek sings, writes the lyrics and plays guitar, bass and keyboards, Katja Kremenšek plays drums, and Anže Črnak plays guitar and bass and sings backing vocals; Jure and Anže swap bass and guitar even during concerts. The music is rock at heart, with blues, punk, indie rock, reggae, ska, surf, psychedelia and country mixed in, and reviewers have often heard grunge in it.
The band records and releases its albums itself and has put them online for free. The studio albums are Perfection Off (2007), Perhaps Maybe (2008), Dandelion Children Stole My Bike (2009), Dandeloid (2010), Dandelion Children so pičke (2012), Dandelion Children (2013) and That One Sunday (2017), plus the compilation Abortion Overdue (2015). For the sixth album they worked with Peter Dekleva of Srečna mladina, and "Never handled" got a video in 2012.
In 2010 they won the Rockizziv and Šourock competitions. In 2012 they were picked from 150 applicants for the first Slovenian Music Week and then invited to the Exit festival in Novi Sad, and they have played Rock Otočec, Lent and PungArt in Slovenia and Mars Moon Fest in Croatia. In 2014 Radio Študent chose them for the Festem project, with concerts in Bordeaux, Madrid and Ljubljana. The playlist gathers the songs from the band's audio channel.
