Dalal Midhat-Talakić

Dalal Midhat-Talakić, born Dalal Midhat on 5 August 1981 in Sarajevo, is a Bosnian R&B and pop singer and songwriter. She first became known as one half of the Sarajevo duo Erato, and in 2016 she represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Ljubav je".

She grew up and went to school in Sarajevo, and her first song of her own was performed in 1995 at a Zagreb choir competition in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. In 1999 she founded Erato, named after the Greek muse. The group started with five girls, but it soon became a duo of Dalal and the singer Aida Jašarević, with Dalal writing the music and words of most of their songs.

Erato released two albums on the label of the Sarajevo broadcaster, Backstage (2003) and Make Up (2005), with songs such as "Mr. Hakim", "Pet minuta" and "Ostavljam te". They recorded "Sigurni" with Tony Cetinski and "Putujemo snovima" with Jacques Houdek, a 2008 single that reached the Bosnian top ten, and the duo won more than fifty awards, among them four Davorins and the Grand Prix of the first BH radio festival. After a farewell concert with the singers they had worked with, Erato stopped in 2009.

Dalal later built a solo career, singing with many musicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, and released the singles "Bonbon" (2015), "Never Give Up" (2017), "Gdje sam ja" (2017) and "Instant" (2019).

In November 2015 the broadcaster BHRT chose her and Deen internally as its Eurovision act, joined by the Croatian cellist Ana Rucner and the rapper Jala. "Ljubav je", written by Almir Ajanović and Jala, was presented at Sarajevo City Hall in February 2016, and its video was filmed at Ostrožac Castle. In the first semi-final in Stockholm on 10 May 2016 the song placed eleventh of eighteen with 104 points, just missing the final, and it remains Bosnia and Herzegovina's latest Eurovision entry.
