About Consecration

Consecration is a rock band from Belgrade, formed in 2000. The line-up changed often, from three to six members, and the only founder still in the band is singer and guitarist Danilo Nikodinovski.

The debut album, Aux, was recorded in 2006: seven tracks lasting almost an hour. Unhappy with the lack of interest from local labels, the band put it online for free in May 2008, together with the live album Live 2nd April 2008. Critics at home and abroad praised it, and Consecration became one of the most popular underground bands in Serbia. At the time their influences were Opeth, Katatonia, Anathema, Slowdive and Neurosis, and the sound leaned towards sludge.

The second album, .avi, came out in 2010 on Croatia's Geenger Records and moved towards post-rock and post-metal, with songs up to fourteen minutes long, such as "Đavo nije urban". Bassist David Lazar Galić then left and Ivan Aranđelović took his place. The band played EXIT and other regional festivals and shared stages with Neurosis, The Ocean and others. In 2011 they announced a trilogy: Cimet and Univerzum zna (both 2013) and Grob (2015), mixed partly by Isis drummer Aaron Harris and mastered by James Plotkin.

Plava Laguna followed in 2019. When long-time drummer Matija Dagović fell ill in 2022, several drummers recorded the next album, Smrt, ljubav, smrt, released in September 2024 and inspired in part by Dylan Dog. Its guest singer Aleksandra Gegović then joined the band. Video sam kako umireš came out in October 2025, opening with the sixteen-minute "Buđenje mumije" and drawing on trumpet, theremin and synthesizers.

Today Consecration are Nikodinovski, Gegović, Aranđelović and drummer Aleksandar Maksimović. The playlist is the band's own channel.
