Anja Baš

Anja Baš is a Slovenian singer and songwriter. She was born on 29 September 1986 in Jesenice, in the Gorenjska region, and that is why she is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia. She sings mostly in Slovenian, with some songs in English.

She learned the recorder and then the flute at primary school and played the flute for five years in a wind band. Her singing began in 1999, when she won the talent contest Korajža velja, which she won again two years later. In 2000 she won Prvi glasek Gorenjske, in 2003 the audience prize at Prvi glas Gorenjske, and the same year the teenage FeNS festival with "Zadnjič". She then reached fifth place in the first season of the TV contest Bitka talentov.

From 2004 to 2009 she fronted the band Angee, where she first tried writing songs. Their first single was "Vedno bo tako" in 2005, and their album I'm Cool, with songs in Slovenian and English, came out in 2007. In 2011 she graduated from the Faculty of Organisational Sciences in Kranj, released her first solo song, "S tabo", and began working with Aleš Klinar's Rock Partyzani, with whom she recorded the hit "Moj lubi". She stayed with them until early 2015.

In 2012 she sang at Slovenska popevka for the first time, with Edvin Fliser's song "Kaj je z mano?". Singles such as "Skušnjava", "Nimaš kej", with a video, and "Kaj je še bolje", which she played at the Viktor awards in June 2014, led to her first solo album, Punca iz tvoje ulice, released on 21 March 2015. She wrote all ten songs on it herself.

She has also sung backing vocals at the EMA contest for Nuša Derenda in 2005, Alenka Godec in 2006 and Alya with Neno Belan in 2015, and she writes for others too: "Dej mi mal" for Alya and "Preobrat" for Alenka Godec. The playlist gathers her songs, from "S tabo" to later singles such as "Vse O.K.".
