Aklea Neon

Aklea Neon is the stage name of Dorotea Zovko, a Croatian singer-songwriter from Osijek, born on 28 December 1990. She calls herself a travelling musician, performs as a one-woman band and is also known as an eco-conscious activist. Her music mixes soul, reggae, blues and folk; she has described it herself as "afro-soul etno-beats", and she names Erykah Badu and Kaya Project as her biggest influences, along with folk soul artists such as Ibeyi and Fémina.

She began her professional career as one of the singers of Brevis, a vocal ensemble from Osijek, with whom she toured Canada, Greece, the United States and China and sang at Carnegie Hall in New York. Her debut single, "Da mi je", came out on Aquarius Records on 21 January 2019.

At the end of 2019 she was announced as one of the sixteen acts of Dora 2020, Croatia's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with "Zovi ju mama". She wrote it as a green anthem after visiting burnt forests and new plantings on the mountain Mosor, and sang it mostly in Croatian with some English. In the final on 29 February 2020 she came seventh with the televoters and fourth with the juries, and fourth overall with 23 points. The same winter she was nominated for three Rock&Off awards, among them best new artist.

Two more singles followed in 2020, "Riba iz kade" and "Shika Shika", and in January 2021 she won the singer-songwriter of the year award at the Music Pub Awards of Croatian Radiotelevision. Her debut studio album, Dođi na joji, was released on 24 February 2022, together with its lead single "Na dah".

Travel is her main source of inspiration, and her channel shows it: besides official videos such as "Ljudnjak" and "ANTM", she has filmed live sessions on a Nile cruise in Egypt, in Zanzibar and in Varanasi in India, including a cover of Senidah.
