Ylenia Zobec

Ylenia Zobec, married name Ylenia Zobec Mihelič, is a Slovenian pop singer and stage actress. She was born on 24 April 1986 in Trieste, Italy, and grew up there as the daughter of Slovenes of the Slovene minority in Italy, which is why she is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia. She sings mainly in Slovenian, and also in Italian. Some years ago she moved from Trieste to Sodražica in Slovenia, where she lives with her husband, the musician Tadej Mihelič.

She began in children's choirs and won the children's category of Melodije morja in sonca in 1997 with "Scooter mojih sanj" and the teen category in 1999 with "Nekam drugam". From 2001 she sang in the festival's main pop evening, and her "Most" won the jury award for best arrangement in 2002.

At Slovenska popevka she was named best debutante in 2003 with "Vsega je preveč". In 2004 "Samo" came second and won the jury awards for best song and best performer, and in 2005 "Ne razumem" again won the awards for best song and best performance. She competed in EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, with "Tvoj glas" in 2004, "Hokus pokus" in 2006, "Našel si me" in 2008 and "Priznam" in 2010. At the Hit Festival 2004 her "Živim" took third place and the jury awards for best music and best lyrics, and her album Živim came out that year.

On the television show Zvezde pojejo she sang with Daniel Malalan and with Omar Naber. As an actress she was part of the ensemble of the Slovenian National Theatre in Nova Gorica in two productions, and in 2013 she graduated in architecture at the University of Trieste. That year she returned to Melodije morja in sonca with the Italian song "Ci riuscirai", which took third place.
