About Unlogic Skill
Unlogic Skill were a rap metal band from Rijeka, formed in 1994 by the rappers Neven Milutin (Nitro Tha N) and Damir Badurina "Bada" (Slow B) with guitarist Dražen Baljak. With bassist Ivan Bačić and drummer Borna Mance, and later bassist Vedran Vučković, they mixed rap with rock and metal in the spirit of the Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine, and are remembered as one of the first bands in the region to do so.
Their first demos appeared on the compilation RijeKKKa's Most Wanted, and for three years they toured Croatia and Slovenia. They rapped first in English, then in English and Croatian, and finally only in Croatian. In 1997 they won Druga pjesma '97, a festival for unsigned bands, and the prize was a contract with the label Dancing Bear.
Their debut album, Zakon, followed in 1998 with eleven songs, among them "Leech", "Usta puna vode", "Someday" and "Nula". "Daj mi dim" became an anthem for a generation of young people in Rijeka and a favourite of the city's DJs and skaters, and the album is counted among the classics of Rijeka's heavy music. The second album, Nelogični (2001), brought the videos "Daj pive", "Groznica subotnje večeri" and "Obećanje, ludom radovanje" with El Bahattee, but it was poorly promoted, did not repeat the first album's success, and the band split up after it.
Dražen Baljak went on to play with Let 3, and Badurina and Milutin appeared on records by Let 3, Metrobolik and El Bahattee. The local music site Mixeta called Unlogic Skill a forerunner of TBF and Dubioza Kolektiv, and Damir Urban thanked them on his album Žena dijete. The band briefly reunited in 2008 for the documentary Hip Hop priča iz Hrvatske. Damir Badurina died in Rijeka on 29 October 2008, and in 2011 the band played again at Slobodna energija, the yearly party his friends hold in his memory.
