About Spaček

Spaček is a rock band from Metković, the town on the Neretva river in the south of Croatia, founded on 7 January 1988. They are on Muzika-Balkan as a Metković band, and Metković remains their home: their 2013 comeback was a concert in the town called "Metkoviću, opet ću ti doći ... 20 godina poslije".

In their first years Spaček played at discos and rock gitarijadas in Metković and around, and their first success was a win at the local amateur singers' festival Glas Neretve. At the end of 1992 they released their first album themselves, a promotional cassette of 500 copies with their seven best songs. At the same time they played the international charity festival Lijepa naša, with concerts in Munich, Augsburg, Frankfurt and finally at the Vatroslav Lisinski hall in Zagreb.

In the summer of 1993 their first music video, for the single "Prva dama", took first place on Hit depo, Croatian Television's leading music chart. Their second album, Zadrži dah, odbaci strah, followed on Amadeus II, and its "Neretvanska" became a kind of unofficial anthem of Metković. The band then played their first big concert, before more than 2,000 people in the town's sports hall, before taking a break in 1994.

In 1998 they came back with the single "Nosim ti ruže", recorded in Croatian and in English as "Bringing You Roses", and played a much-noticed set at Etnofest Neum '98 with their version of the folk song "Na Neretvu misečina pala", together with KUD Metković and actor Tomislav Martić. In May 2013 the single "Most" brought Spaček back to the Croatian stage. The band is singer and guitarist Dragan Brnas Fudo, keyboard player Goran Martinac Gogo, guitarist Goran Komazin Meka, bassist Jurica Bebić and drummer Petar Batinović. The playlist holds the videos from their own channel.
