About Ramirez

Ramirez is a rock band from Zagreb, formed in 2000, and one of the best-known bands of the so-called new new wave of Croatian music, alongside Vatra. The band is fronted by the singer and acoustic guitarist Aljoša Šerić, with Saša Jungić on electric guitar, Tomislav Šušak on bass and Goran Leka on drums; Ozren Ratković earlier played bass.

Ramirez did well at several festivals before signing with a label. Its debut album, recorded during 2004 with the producer Denis Mujadžić Denyken, came out on Menart in October 2004. The first single, "Iste cipele", went straight to the top of many mainstream charts in Croatia, and the album sold relatively well for the home market. On the back of strong concerts, as support to Hladno pivo on tour, at the Zagreb concert Fiju Briju and on a double bill with Elemental, the band released three more singles: "Sve je OK", "Otjeraj me" and "Barcelona".

The second album, Copy/Paste (2006), again produced by Denyken, had a heavier sound and brought the singles "Ništa posebno", "Loš (treća)" and "Copy/Paste". Divovi i kamikaze followed in 2009 with "Učini nešto danas", "Sedam" and "Fantastično, bezobrazno". "Sedam" was used in an HIV awareness campaign with the Croatian Association for HIV, while the video for "Fantastično, bezobrazno", directed by Filip Filković Philatz, was banned on all national television stations in 2009 for its scenes of violence, alcohol and drugs.

The fourth album, Svijet je lijep, came out on 21 March 2011, after the singles "Ti i ja" (2010) and "Da li me voli" (2011). Aljoša Šerić also leads the acoustic side project Pavel, which released its self-titled album in 2007.
