Plava trava zaborava

Plava trava zaborava (Blue Grass of Oblivion) is a country and western band from Zagreb, founded in 1982 on the initiative of the music critic Dražen Vrdoljak, with eight members at the start. It was the first band of its kind in Yugoslavia.

Their first album, Live! (1984), was recorded at a concert in Kulušić in Zagreb. Country (1985) brought "Yugo Goes to Nashville", their first original song, and Hat trick (1987) included "Oh, Maryanne", a country version of "O Marijana" by Dubrovački trubaduri. Then came Dance all night – live (1988), Plava trava zaborava (1990), Muddy river blues (1996), I to sam ja (1997), 16 nam je godina tek (1998) and Ultimate collection (2009).

Their version of "Orange Blossom Special" works in folk themes from Zagorje, Dalmatia and Bosnia, and their own songs are written by singer Eduard Jimmy Matešić. The band has sold more than 500,000 records and has played mostly at country festivals across Europe. In 1998 it was included in Virgin's encyclopedia of country music, and a Dutch country federation named it the third most attractive live act in the world. It has also received the Status award of the Croatian Musicians' Union.

Members over the years include Matešić, Davor Rodik, Dragutin Smokrović "Smokva" and Rista Ibrić, and earlier Rajka Sutlović, Vladimir Georgev, Hrvoje Galeković and Branko Bogunović. The playlist gathers their recordings, from bluegrass pieces such as "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and "Dueling Banjos" to "Jambalaya", "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and their own "Trava zelena" and "Godine prolaze".
