About Nikita

Nikita, born Nikolina Ivošević in Rijeka on 30 October 1969, is a Croatian singer and actress, known for the dance pop she recorded from the 1990s on and for her roles in musicals.

She began singing professionally in the 1980s. In 1987 she recorded her first demo, "Mrvica", with David Podreka from Opatija, and a year later the song "Ne reci zbogom". In 1989, as Nikolina Ivošević – Nicky, she sang at the young talent night of Zagrebfest and won second prize from both the audience and the jury.

Her first albums were Samo ti (1993, Suzy Records), Pogledaj me (1995, Croatia Records) and Neka me sakriju (1997), followed by La femme fatale (2000). Through those years she sang at festival after festival: Arenafest and Zadarfest in 1995, Split in 1996 with "Bomba", Popfest Arena in 1997 with "Day by Day", the Croatian Radio Festival with "Neka me sakriju" (1997) and "La femme fatale" (2001), and Dora, the Croatian Eurovision selection, with "Kraljica noći" in 1999, as well as "Kraljica svemira" at Dorina in 2001. She recorded duets with the singer Papageno and with Đani Stipaničev, with whom she sang Verdi in a pop and rock setting, and worked with musicians such as Ivan Mikulić, Davor Tolja and Robert Pilepić.

The stage has been her second home. She has worked with Zagreb's Komedija theatre since 1994, and her roles include Crna kraljica (1995), Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar (2000), Kosa, Mali dućan strave and Mit o labirintu (2003). She has sung jazz standards with the HRT Big Band in the Lisinski hall, acted in films, and holds the official status of an independent musician (2003) and actress (2010).

In 2006 the Australian label Blue Pie Records released The Best of Nikita From Croatia, her songs from 1994 to 2005, and that album is the playlist here, with "Queen of the Night", "Papageno", "La femme fatale", "Day by Day" and "Sempre libera". In all she has released fourteen solo albums; the newest, Get Up! (2025) and Closer to You (2026), came out under the name Nikita from Croatia.
