Lu Jakelić

Lu Jakelić, born Lucija Jakelić in 1993, is a Croatian singer and songwriter who grew up in Đurđevac. She writes her own words and music, and both of her albums went to number one in Croatia.

She comes from a musical family: she says she inherited her talent from her grandfather, who sang in clubs in Germany, and she played music with her older brothers. She started on the piano at eight and learned piano and guitar mostly by ear. After secondary school in Đurđevac she moved to Zagreb, took a master's degree in communication studies at the University of Zagreb, attended the Husar i Tomčić music school and worked as a radio host before turning fully to music. She names Gibonni as her biggest influence, beside Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Amy Winehouse, John Mayer and Alanis Morissette.

In late 2017 she appeared in HRT's television series A strana. Her debut album, Sve o čemu sam šutjela, was released by Croatia Records on 11 November 2019, reached number one on the Croatian album chart and stayed on the best-selling list for 34 weeks in a row. In December 2019 she was announced as the green-room host of the third season of The Voice Hrvatska.

The second album, Šesto čulo, came out on Croatia Records on 25 November 2022 and also went to number one in its first week. Its ten songs are all her own, arranged and produced by Rejhan Okanović, who has worked with her from the start, and the singles "Zidovi", "Sjene" and "Kuća" all reached the Croatian top 40. Nikola Knežević, editor of the portal Music Box, called it probably one of the best Croatian pop albums of recent years.

In March 2025 she presented the single "Tamo gdje te nema" in Zagreb as a first taste of her next album, and "Prozirna" and "Amajlija" have followed. She has also won the regional AMVA award for the best music video. The playlist gathers her videos, from "Ljudi od dima" and "Domine" to the newest songs.
