About Hajrija Gegaj

Hajrija Gegaj is a Bosnian folk singer from Sarajevo, a voice of narodna music from the 1980s to the 2010s. According to the Discogs profile of her brother Ado Gegaj, she started out with him and their brother Izet Gegaj in a group called Najmlađi, and Izet went on to write most of her songs.

Her first record was a single on Diskoton of Sarajevo in 1982: "Il' rastanak, il' vjenčanje" with "Ti si čovjek što sreći prkosi", written and produced by Hasan Dudić and played by the orchestra of Bora Višnjički. In 1988 the song gave its title to her first album on Diskos, with music by Izet and songs such as "Djevojačka tuga" and "Voljela sam plave oči". Albums followed in 1990 (Daj ne pričaj meni), 1991 (Uzmite me sebi) and 1994 (Lažu te dušo). She also composed: Ado's album Ti si dio mene (1990) has her music on "Ljepotica", "Samo se jednom živi" and the title song.

Baksuze, released by Halix Produkcija in 1997 with Halid Muslimović as executive producer, was composed and arranged by Izet and produced by Ado, who also sang backing vocals. It holds "Baksuze", "Igram šotu, mašala" and "Odnio si sunce, vrati se po tamu". Korak naprijed (1999) added "Ja djevojka, on oženjen" and "99 dana". In 1999 she also sang at the Bihać festival.

Odlazi came out in 2002, Spavaj sa mnom in 2003 and Sad sam k'o da nisam on Hayat Production in 2005, followed by Pazi opasni on Valentino Records in 2012. "Moja ti je otvorena kuća" is often named as her biggest hit.
