Foxy Teens

Foxy Teens were a Slovenian pop group, the first teenage girl group in Slovenia. Four girls decided to form it in 1996 on a trip to Gardaland: Tanja Žagar, Mirna Reynolds, Maja Mauko and Gaynor Johnson. Maja was only twelve at the time.

They first drew attention with a cover of the Spice Girls' "Wannabe", and their debut album, Ujemi ritem, came out in 1996. In 1997 they sang "Kje zdaj so vse noči" at the teenage edition of Melodije morja in sonca. Then came a remarkable run at Slovenska popevka with songs by Boštjan Groznik: "Naj pada zdaj dež" won the festival in 1999, "Moja simpatija" came second in 2000, and "Prva ljubezen" won again in 2001 with 12,691 telephone votes. Each of these songs named an album, followed by Še enkrat (2002) and a Best of (2004). In 2001 they also sang "Poljubac mi daj" at the Sunčane skale festival.

Gaynor Johnson left in 2000. Špela Grošelj sang with the group from 2002 to 2003, while Maja Mauko took a short break for school before returning. The original Foxy Teens ended in 2005; Tanja Žagar, Mirna Reynolds and Špela Grošelj went on to their own music careers.

In 2007 the name returned with three new girls, Ines Erbus, Nika Krmec and Kim Perme. They started with Foxy mix 2007, a medley of the first line-up's hits, and their first own song, "Zaljubljena v skejterja", was also their first video. Their album Gremo fantje came out in 2008. Katja Mihelčič and later Tanja Petrušič joined, and the second line-up officially ended in October 2013.

Besides the festival winners, the group's songs include "Ujemi ritem", "Pelji me na morje", "Zvezde padajo z neba" and "Tiho zašepetaj". In November 2024 it was announced that former member Maja Mauko had died at the age of 41.
