About Flyer
Flyer is a pop band from Zagreb, formed in 1996. The line-up is singer Petra Kožar, guitarist Ivan Dumalovski, bassist Ivo Dunat, drummer Željko Kožar and keyboard player Mario Kovač, who also writes many of the band's songs.
In July 2003 the band recorded a demo that won the IDEMO festival of demo bands against some 50 competitors. Flyer then took half of the awards at the Heineken Music Fest in Zenica, where more than a hundred bands from the former Yugoslavia competed, played Rock Otočec on the same bill as Stereo MCs and appeared at the Zagreb Open Air Festival alongside Morcheeba.
In October 2003 the band signed with Croatia Records. The first single, "Stanica prema suncu", came out in April 2004 with a video and reached the top of the charts of most Croatian radio and television stations, and "Želim najviše" followed. Their version of Josipa Lisac's "O jednoj mladosti", recorded together with Lisac herself, was the most played song in Croatian media in 2005.
The debut album, Epopeja, came out on Friday the 13th in May 2005, with ten original songs and the duet with Lisac. "Tko si ti" went to the top of the radio charts, and the ballad "Tragovi u tragu" got an animated video by director Tino Turk. For 2004 Flyer won the Zlatna koogla award for best new act and was named both hope of the year in the HR Top 20 vote and best new act by Otvoreni radio.
For the second album, Iluzija, the band worked with producer Samir Kadribašić, known for his work with Jinx. Its lead single, "Sve iza nas", with a video by Tomislav Brdanović, set airplay records for 2006. A third album, simply called 3, followed on Croatia Records in 2017. The playlist gathers Flyer's songs as released on YouTube by their labels, from "Stanica prema suncu" and "Mala iluzija" to "Pjesma za dvoje" and "Zauvijek".
