About Biserka Spevec
Biserka Spevec is a Croatian pop singer of the 1960s and 1970s, a regular at the big Yugoslav song festivals of that era. Several of her records were arranged by Alfi Kabiljo.
She made her name at the Festival Omladina in Subotica, where she won the award for best interpretation in both 1964 and 1965, singing songs such as "Znam" and "Žalim", and in 1966 she was back with "Ti si deo mene", a song by Kornelije Kovač.
At the Opatija festival she sang "Ti odluči" by Alfi Kabiljo and Arsen Dedić in 1966 and "Ako želiš da me voliš" in 1967, both sharing the song with Ana Štefok, then "S.O.S.", shared with the Dubrovački trubaduri, in 1968 and "Valdebek", shared with Marjana Deržaj, in 1970. She returned with "Sjeti se mene" in 1973, "Knjiga naše ljubavi" in 1974 and "Rastanak" in 1975. In 1969 "Neću više one dane" was among the songs of the festival Vaš šlager sezone, and at Slovenska popevka 1970 she sang "Iščemo očka" as the guest from Croatia.
Her recordings include Croatian versions of foreign hits such as "La, la, la", "Moje oči" and "Lutka na koncu", as well as "Hej, hej" and Kabiljo's own "Gdje si sad". "La, la, la", "Gdje si sad" and "Moje oči" were also chosen for Prize-winning songs from Yugoslavia, an LP recorded by Jugoton and released in New York around 1969. In 1981 she sang "Sama" at the Yugoslav selection for Eurovision, finishing eleventh with 17 points.
