Bebe Rexha

Bebe Rexha is an American pop singer and songwriter, born Bleta Rexha on 30 August 1989 in Brooklyn, New York. Her roots are in North Macedonia: her father, Flamur Rexha, was born in Debar, and her mother Bukurije's Albanian family comes from Gostivar, so she may just as well be counted as American or Albanian. Her stage name comes from her first name, the Albanian word for "bee".

The family moved to Staten Island when she was six. She taught herself the trumpet, then the guitar and piano, sang in the choir at Tottenville High School and found out there that she is a coloratura soprano. As a teenager she won a "Best Teen Songwriter" prize at a Grammy Career Day event among about 700 entrants. In 2010 she met Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy and became the singer of his project Black Cards, which she left at the start of 2012.

Her first big success came as a songwriter: she co-wrote "The Monster", the Grammy-winning hit of Eminem and Rihanna, and in 2012 she received the Abe Olman Scholarship of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2013 she signed with Warner Bros. Records as a solo artist. Her debut single, "I Can't Stop Drinking About You", came out in 2014, the EP I Don't Wanna Grow Up with "I'm Gonna Show You Crazy" in May 2015, and "No Broken Hearts" with Nicki Minaj in March 2016.

The two All Your Fault EPs of 2017 made her a star. "I Got You" reached number 43 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Meant to Be" with the country duo Florida Georgia Line climbed to number 2 and spent a record 50 weeks at number one on the Hot Country Songs chart. Her debut album, Expectations (2018), reached number 13 on the Billboard 200, and at the 2019 Grammys she was nominated for Best New Artist and, with "Meant to Be", for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. She also sings on hits by G-Eazy ("Me, Myself & I"), Martin Garrix ("In the Name of Love") and David Guetta.

"Last Hurrah" followed in 2019, "Baby, I'm Jealous" with Doja Cat in 2020 and the album Better Mistakes, with "Sacrifice", in 2021. "I'm Good (Blue)" with David Guetta reached number 4 in the United States, topped the charts in 22 countries and is on her third album, Bebe (2023). In January 2026 she moved from Warner to Empire Distribution, and her album Dirty Blonde came out on 12 June 2026.

Bebe Rexha has had four Grammy nominations and has won an Academy of Country Music Award, an MTV Video Music Award and two Billboard Music Awards. She was a coach on The Voice, voiced a character in the animated film UglyDolls (2019) and acted in Queenpins (2021).
