About Armin Šaković

Armin Šaković is a Bosnian folk singer and songwriter, born on 3 July 1968 in Sarajevo. He sings kafana songs and love ballads in the narodna tradition, and besides his own records he has written songs for many of the best-known voices of Bosnian and Serbian folk music.

His first album, Priče iz kafane, came out on Sarajevo Disk, recorded with Orkestar Manko. Its nine songs included "Trojica me iz kafane vodila", "Kad mi zora kaže zdravo", "Ne pitajte", "Skitnica", "Sto i jedan grijeh" and "Ovo je život moj". In 2000 the label Naraton gathered seventeen of his songs on Sve moje pjesme, among them "Trista dana", "Tuđa rana ne boli" and "Idemo kući, moj brate", a song he wrote and had already sung as a duet with Halid Muslimović in 1998.

Za sva vremena followed in 2004 on Hayat Production. He wrote the music and lyrics himself, and the album was recorded and mixed at studio Azra between April and September 2004. Its ten songs, among them "Nemirna", "Mina", "Bez tebe", "Rođendan", "Dušmani", "Čvor", "Ubiti bezbolno", "Tamnica" and the title song, make up most of the videos on his YouTube channel.

As a songwriter Armin Šaković has worked for singers across the region. He wrote "Sama", "Tuđa rana ne boli" and "Šta da učinim" for Hanka Paldum's 2001 album, and "Treba vremena" for Ana Bekuta, a song she kept on her best-of collection and her live album. He wrote the lyrics of "Ti si mene" on Dino Merlin's 2004 album Burek and sang backing vocals on "Kad čovjek voli ženu" there.

For Halid Muslimović he also wrote "Moj brate" on the album Opsesija (2004), for Donna Ares the song "Prijateljica" on Nemam razloga za strah (2006), and his "Žena je žena" was sung at the Bihać festival of folk music in 2001.
