About Almas Smajlović

Almas Smajlović is a rock singer, bass player, composer and arranger from Sarajevo. He was born in Berlin, Germany, on 26 March 1973, but his whole career belongs to Sarajevo: Bosnian Wikipedia calls him a Sarajevo musician, and Sarajevo is where he works and plays, most recently with a big solo concert at the BKC hall in 2024. That is why he is on Muzika-Balkan under Bosnia.

He became known as the frontman of Erogene zone, where he sings and plays bass. He formed the band with the guitarist Muhamed Trnka in 1993, in wartime Sarajevo. Erogene zone released Šuti, seko, šuti in 1994, Robija in 1997, XXL in 1999 and Mistični znaci in 2003, and the unplugged concert Mi nismo isti came out on DVD in 2007 and on CD in 2008. In later years the band played mostly live.

Almas has worked with many well-known musicians. He played bass in Grafit, a project with Goran Bregović, whose album Ploča came out in 2013, and he sang in the duo Coverdose with Nedžad Merdžanović of Konvoj. He was a guest bassist on records by Erato and Fazla. In 2004 he sang at Vječni sjaj, the Sarajevo concert in memory of Davorin Popović and Mirza Delibašić, beside Kemal Monteno, Halid Bešlić and Konvoj.

On 10 March 2017 he started a solo career with the single "Sat". "Bol" followed with a video in 2020, then "Zmija", "Krug za nas" and "Kad boriš se sam", a duet with Tifa. He recorded "Samoća" with the Sarajevo choir Superar Cadenza and "Ne želim odustati" with Božo Vrećo, and the songs came together on the album Krug in 2023.

In 2024 he played a big concert at BKC Sarajevo with guests including Konvoj and Nermin Puškar, and he has played his songs live for BHRT's music club Corner, including a cover of the Indexi classic "Balada". He also appeared as an actor in two episodes of the series Lud, zbunjen, normalan. The playlist gathers his official solo videos, from "Sat" to "Ne želim odustati".
