About Ado Gegaj

Ado Gegaj is a folk singer from Bosnia and Herzegovina, born on 23 August 1958 in Sarajevo, where he lives and works. Music runs in the family: his sister Hajrija Gegaj is a singer, and his brother Izet Gegaj a composer, arranger and musician.

He started out in a group that Izet founded, with Izet on accordion, Ado on guitar, and Hajrija and Jašar Ahmedovski as the singers. In 1987 the Gegaj brothers began working with the arranger Dragan Stojković Bosanac, and Ado recorded his first record for the Diskos label from Aleksandrovac. Its standout songs were "Okreni moj broj", "Večeras me društvo zove" and "Čarobni krug". With Stojković he made Telefon zvoni in 1988, with "Varao me jaran moj", "Tvoj me pogled ubi" and "Ni korak dalje neću bez nje".

Ljubav za ljubav followed in 1989, with the title song, "Ko vojniku ljubav krade" and "Prijete tvoji, prijete moji", and in 1990 his last Diskos album, Ti si dio mene, with "Dva jarana glave lude" and "Ljepotica". Gdje si bila (1994), made with Izet and Džavid Ljubovci, was led by "Hej, majko mati", and Vjerovo' sam ti came out in 1995.

Back in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1998 he recorded Ovo malo duše, with "Sličica", "Na sve si me naučila" and "Da si jad i nesreća". In 2000 he worked in Belgrade with Srki Boy on Pobjednik na kraju, which brought "Nemojte mi suditi", the title song and the duet "Nerviraš me" with Hajrija, and gave "Okreni moj broj" a second life. Nazovi zbog nas came out in 2002, and in 2005 a live album recorded at one of his concerts in the United States.

Dunjo moja (2008) brought "Dunjo moja" and "Nisam Sinan", and Sad i ja znam, made again with Izet, came out in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Valentino Records. In 2014 he shared the album Legende osamdesetih with Sinan Sakić, and the EPs Bosanac / Ženi mi se brat (2015) and Ljubomoro / Kockar (2017) followed.
