About Zlatko Manojlović
Zlatko Manojlović, who has also recorded as Zed Mitchell, is a Serbian rock guitarist, singer and songwriter, born in Kruševac in 1951 and now based in Germany. At fifteen he won first place on Radio Belgrade's talent show Studio VI vam pruža šansu with the song "Prolazim".
In 1969 Branislav Marušić "Čutura" invited him into the reformed Džentlmeni, and when they split in 1972 he formed Fleš, who released one single. The same year he and Marušić founded Dah; Marušić left after one single and Manojlović took over the vocals. Dah's debut, Veliki cirkus, came out in 1974, and in 1975 the band moved to Belgium and recorded as Land, finding international success with "Shoshana". They came home to release Povratak in 1976, and while Manojlović was in the army his brother Goran led the band until it split in 1977.
His solo career began with the 1975 single "Ko te sada ljubi". "Jednoj ženi", recorded in 1976 while he was doing his army service in Ljubljana, was a success across the country. On leaving the army in November 1977 he formed Gordi, who played progressive and hard rock on Čovek (1978), Gordi 2 (1979) and Gordi 3 (1979), then heavy metal on Pakleni trio (1981) and Kraljica smrti (1982), before breaking up in 1984.
His first solo album, Zlatko i njegove gitare, came out in 1980, and Jednoj ženi followed in 1983; after interest at MIDEM it was released in Japan by Toshiba EMI as To One Woman. He left Yugoslavia in 1984 and played on some fifty albums abroad, mostly uncredited, while making solo records such as Blue Heart (1994), Terra Futura (1999) and Pure Life (2006). From 1996 to 1998 he and his wife, the singer Izolda Barudžija, worked as the duo Vox.
As Zed Mitchell, with The Zodiacs, Zlatko Manojlović has made blues rock records since Springtime in Paris (2010), among them Autumn in Berlin (2013), Winter in Amsterdam (2016) and WOW (2018), whose Serbian version, Crni labud, came out in 2019; his son Todor plays on Route 69 (2020) and HA, HA, HA, HA... (2022). In 2021 Croatia Records released the box set Od Daha do Gordih, and in 2024 he brought Gordi back with Todor for the comeback album Fenix.
