About Vatrogasci
Vatrogasci (the Firemen) are a Croatian band of many styles, formed in Zagreb in 1991. They are on Muzika-Balkan as a Zagreb band, best known for cover versions and parodies that turn other people's songs into narodnjaci, the folk-pop of the region, with tongue firmly in cheek; next to the parodies they also write their own songs.
The band is Tihomir Borošak, who writes the music, lyrics and arrangements, singer and guitarist Goran Borošak, drummer Mario Jurišić and keyboard player and backing singer Rudolf Katalinić.
They have made nineteen studio albums and two compilations. It began with four volumes of Vatrogasna zabava (1992 to 1995), the first three on Euroton and the fourth on Croatia Records, followed by Priče iz radione (1998), Med i mlijeko (1999), Sreća u nesreći (2001), Kitice i refreni (2002), Trava i užas (2003), Poruke u boci (2004), Vlahovin svjedok (2005), Homo erectus (2009), Dvodojak (2014) and Devijacije na temu (2020). In 2025 they released three albums at once, Gazdin gazda, Slon u sobi and Masne basne, and in 2026 came Motorinolaringoginekologija and Rock album Vol. 1, all on Mini Records. The compilations are The Best Of (1996) and Najbolje pijane pjesme (2011).
The credits of their songs show where the jokes come from: "Čičikita" is credited to ABBA's Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, "Šnjon" to Michel Polnareff, while "Vatrogasna zabava", "Autobusom do Trsta", "Šanki manijak" and "Kako došlo - tako prošlo" are among the songs that made their name.
