About Rezonansa
Rezonansa was a pop rock band from Sarajevo, active from 1975 to 1989. Their songs were easy to sing along to and carried a clear touch of Bosnian folk music, and with two violinists and old folk instruments in the line-up they had a sound of their own: early on they were called the "acoustic Bijelo dugme".
The band was founded in 1975 by the bass player Brano Likić and his sister Branka, a singer, who gathered several young musicians to play their own music. With Senad, Mario and Krešo they recorded "Nemoj meni branit', moja nano", released on their first single with "Moj tata u 10" on the B-side by Jugoton. The song won them their first fans through Radio Sarajevo.
Singles on PGP RTB followed: "Trči Čule" with "Gradska tema" in 1975, "Hajde, dušo, da igramo malo" with "Slikarka" and "Eno aviona" with "Ne znam gdje ću sad" in 1976, and "Neka svijet bude orkestar" with "Saraj poljem" in 1977. Their first album, Nemoj meni... nemoj ni ti meni!, came out in 1975. In 1977 alone they played around a hundred concerts, and they appeared at the Sarajevo festival Vaš šlager sezone in 1976 and 1977. On Diskoton they released the albums Prolaz molim (1978) and Profesija muzičar (1981), the single "Tamo preko Dunava" with "Vjeruj mi" (1978) and "Jedno veče u hotelu konobari i kuhari" (1981); Život u dvije smjene followed on Sarajevo disk in 1986.
Many musicians passed through Rezonansa. Those who shaped its sound most were the keyboard players Darko Arkus, later of COD and Teška industrija, and Tonči Mališ, the violinists Božidar "Bobo" Arkus and Mario Barišić, the drummers Ljubo Pavlović and Điđi Jankelić, the guitarist and flautist Josip Mijač, and the guitarists Džemal Novaković, formerly of COD, and Ševćet Hodža, later of Vatreni poljubac.
In fourteen years the band recorded nine singles and seven albums and played thousands of concerts before it stopped in 1989. Brano Likić went on to work as a composer and producer: his BLAP studio in Sarajevo recorded much of the city's music of the 1980s and 1990s. The name Rezonansa is read as "Raison an Sa", a reason from Sarajevo.
