About Prizma

Prizma is a Slovenian pop rock band that started in 1974. A wider audience first came to know them through the music they wrote and played for the youth television programme "Pisani svet" on TV Slovenija, set to lyrics by Svetlana Makarovič. Their best-known songs include "Pogum", "Senca", "Tujca", "Od enih do treh", "Dobrodošli" and "Ta moška".

The classic line-up was Vladimir "Ladi" Mljač on drums and lead vocals, Franci Čelhar on keyboards and Igor Kos on guitar, with Vili Bertok on bass until 1977, then Danilo Kocjančič until 1984 and Dušan Šandrić until 1987. Their first single, "Če si moja", came out in 1977, and "Pogum", recorded with Tomaž Domicelj, followed in 1978. At Slovenska popevka 1978 "Pogum" made them the best debutants, and in 1979 it gave its name to their first album.

The festival years were busy. At Melodije morja in sonca "Zasidran" (1979) and "Budnica" (1981) won the lyrics award, and the band then won the festival twice in a row, with "Dobrodošli" in 1982 and "Ta moška" in 1983. At Slovenska popevka they sang "Od enih do treh", "Bermudski trikotnik", "Moj oče filmski superstar" and "V petek zvečer", and "Elektrošok" took second prize in 1983. They also played Opatija ("Glas noči", "Pri nas doma"), the Zagreb festival and Vesela jesen. A cassette called Prizma (1981) and the LP Junak zadnje strane (1983) followed.

In a little over thirteen years Prizma played about 1,300 concerts before the members parted by agreement in 1987. A compilation, Največje uspešnice, came out on CD in 1996.

In February 2010 Dragan Bulič invited them to a concert of well-known 1960s and 1970s bands in Hala Tivoli, and from 2011 Prizma returned as an acoustic trio: Mljač and Čelhar with guitarist Matjaž Švagelj. For the 50th anniversary in 2024 they toured with drummer Bogdan Turnšek of Avia band and bassist Giovanni Toffoloni, who has played with Nina Pušlar, Eva Boto and Jan Plestenjak. They recorded two new songs, sang "Vse to je res" at Melodije morja in sonca 2024, and in 2025 Dallas Records released Dan mladosti, a double live album from the jubilee concert in Divača on 25 May 2024.
