Lublanski psi

Lublanski psi (Ljubljana Dogs) is a punk rock band from Ljubljana and one of the bands of the first wave of Slovenian punk at the turn of the 1980s. It was founded and based in Ljubljana, which is why it is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia, and it sings in Slovenian. Slovenian Wikipedia lists the band as active until 2012; whether it still plays is not known.

The 24ur news site called it a cult punk group of the Novi rock scene, and its first period ran from 1979 to 1981, when it played the first Novi rock festival. The band appeared on the 1982 punk compilation Lepo je..., and in 1984 recorded a five-song demo at Studio Činč with "Visoka trava", "Policaj", "Nož", "Rože za rožo" and "Iščem se". After a pause at the end of 1981 and a short regrouping, the members scattered.

The classic line-up was Mario Šelih on vocals, Milan Košir and Ivan Bekčič on guitars, Matjaž Gantar on bass and Miran Potočki on drums; Pavel Toplak and Sašo Mrše also played guitar. Milan, the band's main creative force, later became a Catholic missionary, Mario Šelih became a theatre actor and in the early 1990s returned to Novi rock with a new group, and Matjaž Gantar went on to play with Pankrti.

Twenty years later the dogs came back. In September 2004 Dallas Records released Hrapavo grobo te ljubim, with twelve new songs recorded that year by Mario Šelih, Matjaž Gantar, Mark Čuček, Bogo Pretnar and Rok Plešnar, and a bonus disc, Drenjanje s sodrgo, with nine of the band's songs from 1979 to 1981. "In God We Trust" went to the radio stations as the first single.

The playlist is the band's catalogue on YouTube, with "In God We Trust", "Himna naše mladosti", "Na ves svet sem hud", "Visoka trava" and "Femme fatale".
