About Goran Kovačević
Goran Kovačević was a Bosnian singer, musician and songwriter, best known as the singer of Teška industrija in the 1970s. He was born on 7 March 1955 in Mostar and died suddenly on 9 March 2014 in Sarajevo, which is why he is on Muzika-Balkan under Bosnia.
He started out in the mid-1970s with the newly founded band Čisti zrak, with whom he released a few singles. Soon afterwards he joined Ambasadori and stayed with them until 1976. Gabor Lenđel then invited him to take the place of Seid Memić Vajta in Teška industrija, and with them Kovačević recorded the albums Teška industrija (1976) and Zasviraj i za pojas zadjeni (1978), as well as the 1977 Jugoton singles "Alaj mi je večeras po volji" and "Igraj mala opa, opa".
In 1978 he left the band for a solo career. He worked with the drummer Ipe Ivandić and the keyboard player Laza Ristovski on their album Stižemo, and the same year Jugoton released his solo single "Kad se ptice jave", which he wrote and arranged himself, with Ivandić on drums, Ristovski on piano and Zlatko Hold on guitar. Its B-side, "Zaljubi se k'o slon", was written by Hold.
His first solo album, Prvak svijeta, came out on Diskoton in 1982. He produced it himself and sang lead, with Ivandić on drums, Nikola Dimuševski on keyboards, Zvonimir Igić on guitar, Braco Doblekar on saxophone and Ristovski as a guest on synthesizer. It includes "Javi se", "Marija", "Neman nezbivanja" to words by Abdulah Sidran, his own "Interplanetarijum hotel" and a version of Vivaldi's spring, "Proljeće (Primavera)". The second album, Pepeljuga u jeansu on PGP RTB, was arranged and produced by Ristovski and brought "Ana", "Oči govore", "Pepeljuga" and "Milion roz".
After that he withdrew from the stage to concentrate on writing songs. Until his death he wrote many hits for other performers, among them "Denny" for the band Cod. The playlist gathers his solo recordings, from the 1978 single to both albums.
