Gatuzo

Gatuzo is a rock band from Zagreb, formed in 2004 as a duo of Damir Trkulja Šiljo on guitar and vocals and Goran Martinjak on drums. The two had been friends since secondary school, where they sat at the same desk and started playing together. They call their raw, energetic style explosive rock, with a strong debt to the blues.

The duo played its first concert at the end of 2004 and in late 2005 recorded the EP Temelji for the Zagreb agency Spona. It caught the critics' attention, starting with a review by Aleksandar Dragaš. In 2007 they signed with Dancing Bear, and the debut album Noge/ruke/glave came out on 17 November 2007. It won them the Status award of the Croatian Musicians Union for the best young rock band and a Porin for the best alternative rock album of 2007. The second album, "!", followed on 7 December 2009 to excellent reviews.

At the end of 2012 they moved to Croatia Records, announcing the third album with the single "Oni govore". Gdje idemo came out on 12 December 2013, with Goran Martinac producing, and the portal muzika.hr put it second among the Croatian albums of the year. Only a year later, on 25 November 2014, came Megalomania, introduced by the duet "Povrijedili smo jedno drugo" with Goran Bare of Majke and featuring "Šutnja" with Saša Antić of TBF, which many reviews named the best song of their career. The album was nominated for three Porins.

In early 2016 the bassist Jakov Kolega joined, and the trio changed its sound while keeping its energy, announcing it with the single "Ima li te…". The fifth album, Van kontrole, came out on Aquarius Records on 8 April 2019. The band has since released the EP 360° (2024) and, in 2025, the album Subota, with videos for "Ptica", "2007", "Subota" and "Pas".

Šiljo also played in Majke from 2009 to 2012 and recorded their album Teške boje (2011), named album of the year. He wrote its title song "Teške boje", which won the 2012 Porin for hit of the year and song of the year.
